Charlie Butler

Vicar

Charlie became vicar of St Bartholomew’s in March 2023, having trained for ministry in London, and served as curate here since 2019. He is married to Jenny and they have 3 young children.

Saskia Barnden

Associate Priest

Saskia has been associate clergy at St Bartholomew’s since 2012. In 21 years of ministry she has also served as a school chaplain and as a hospice chaplain. She is married to John; they have a grown up daughter and 2 grandchildren.

Jem Huggins

Operations Manager

Jem is married to Oli and they have 3 children. Before joining the staff team as Operations Manager, Jem was a Projects Officer at the University of Birmingham.

David Griffiths

Organist

David has always been based in the Birmingham area. He is married to Sally and they have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. David has been organist at St Bartholomew’s since 2010, prior to which he was Director of Music at King Edward VI Five Ways School for many years.

Guy Hordern

Church Warden

Guy has lived in the Parish since 1968. His wife Helen died in 1986 and he has four children and four grandchildren. He has served as a member of the City Council and as a Magistrate and was appointed MBE in 2010 for services to Community Relations in Birmingham.

Oli Huggins

Church Warden

Oli encountered Jesus at the age of 21. He is married to Jem and they have 3 children. He was previously warden at Stephen’s, Selly Park, and works as VP of Partnerships for Packt Publishing.

Mary Martin

PCC Treasurer

Mary has lived in Birmingham since the 1970’s and moved to the church in 2019. She is married to Peter and has 2 grown up children and 2 grandchildren. She is a Chartered Accountant and serves on the boards of an NHS Trust and a local arts charity.

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) are the trustees of St Bartholomew's under current charity law, legally responsible for the church’s financial affairs and the maintenance of its assets. They also assist the clergy in the management of the church and the promotion of its mission.
