Welcome to Birmingham!
We’re on Church Road, a few minutes’ walk from the Vale. Sundays at 10.30 — that’s the best way to get a feel for us, and you don’t need to tell anyone you’re coming.
You’d be genuinely welcome, whether you grew up in church, walked away from one, or have never been near one.
University forms us
University forms us. It gives us the ideas, the practices and the relationships that shape us, now and in the decades ahead. The question is not whether it will form you. It is what kind of person it will help you become.
We’d love to walk with you while you work that out. Meaningful change rarely happens on our own, and it rarely happens among people who are all exactly like us.
St Bart’s is made up of students, young families, people who have lived in Edgbaston for fifty years, and everyone in between. We’re learning with and from each other what it means to follow Jesus and serve this city.
We want you to exercise and develop your gifts. We are seeing new opportunities emerge across St Bart’s ministry. We’d love you to help shape and lead them.
This term
Student gatherings this term will be deliberately simple.
For the first few weeks we’ll get to know each other over lunch after the 10.30 service, sometimes joining the wider church family. From late October we’ll begin Practicing the Way — John Mark Comer’s introduction to spiritual formation, built around what it means to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did. No previous experience required, and no need to have made your mind up about anything.

Who to talk to
Josh Richards, our Associate Vicar, leads student ministry at St Bart’s and is also the Anglican Chaplain at the University of Birmingham, so you may well see him around campus. Email him at josh@edgbaston.church, or just find him after the service.
Christian Unions
We’re big supporters of the Christian Unions across Birmingham — students from a wide range of churches, united in wanting to represent Jesus on campus and introduce their friends to him.
Bell ringing
We’re the home of BUSCR, the Birmingham Universities Society of Change Ringers, who practise here in term time and have socials and days out through the year. They’d be glad to see you whether you’ve rung for years or have never touched a rope. Drop them a line at buscr.committee@gmail.com to say you’re coming, or have a look at @birmingham_uni_bells.
